Jiisa Weçe. Roots of knowledge
Description
Jiisa Weçe (Roots of Knowledge) draws a portrait of indigenous leader Manuel Quintin Lame (1880-1967), from a native spiritual perspective. Mixing fiction and documentary techniques, it conveys the Nasa people's non-linear understanding of history, and the presence of historical leaders in current struggles and ritual practice. Nasa the' walla (shaman) Pío Quinto Oteca personifies Lame on the screen. The film is the result of Cineminga workshops in Tierradentro, Cauca.
