Blight talks about Reconstruction as a continuation of the Civil War, Need among Northerners to preserve what they suffered and died for, riots in the South, the black codes, role of black churches, black ministers as politicians, Tunis Campbell, the land problem, sharecropping, restoration of the Union, Thaddus Stevens and Republican plan of reconstruction, use of federal power to establish civil rights, definitions of equality.
