National Patient Safety Goals for long term care 2014. Interpreter
Description
Medical errors have recently been recognized as a significant cause of thousands of unnecessary injuries and deaths in the United States. As part of the general response aimed at reducing medical errors, resident safety has taken on a more critical role. The Joint Commission has developed a resident safety initiative to address some of these problems. This program looks at this initiative and describes what steps nurses working in long term care settings can take to help ensure resident safety. This film clip is about the importance of having an interpreter present when a patient's first language is not English.
