Say Brother. The African Artist
Description
Program focuses on the painting of Gambian artist Momodou Ceesay, painting instructor at the Elma Lewis School of Fine Arts and at Roxbury Community College. Host Marita Rivero speaks with Ceesay about what we can expect from art and its function is, his ideas and techniques (which are often inspired by children's stories from Gambia), his efforts to preserve Africa's traditional landscapes via illustration, and the fact that much of his work is derived from memory. Ceesay works in watercolor and acrylic paint. Program includes numerous slides of the artist's work, accompanied by narrated explanations, and the "Community Calendar."
