Ordeal of power. The President and the presidency
Description
What does the president do? What are his powers and the limits to them? Using vivid examples, the program focuses on the highest office in the land. The program shows that the powers of the presidency are defined in the Constitution but have changed and grown in practice, as have limitations on presidential powers. Illustrations show the decision making process of the presidency through examples from recent history. Using concepts developed in the program, students are challenged to help a fictional president solve a typical policy problem.
