Ann Hutchinson Guest, who has been largely responsible for Labanotation coming into the prominent position it holds today, is interviewed in two sessions by Billie Mahoney. She speaks about her early dance career; studying at the Jooss-Leeder School, Martha Graham and Hanya Holm schools; performing on Broadway; the advantages of having studied many different dance styles; how her continued interest in dance notation led her to become one of the founders of the Dance Notation Bureau in 1940; early days at the Bureau and its achievements to the present; running the Language of Dance Centre in London.
