Exploring the world. The big island ; Kauai. Hawaii

Description

Hawaii is an exotic grouping of 8 major islands and several smaller islets, atolls, and reefs that make up one of the most beautiful and exciting places in the world to visit. This program features the Big Island of Hawaii, the namesake for the state itself, its Kohala Coast, and Kauai, the Garden Island. First we visit the sunny beaches, world-class tennis and golf courses, and luxury resorts found on the Big Island and swim in a pool with dolphins before taking a Hawaiian Horseback Adventure to visit one of the largest cattle ranches on the Big Island. Kauai, the Garden Island, is smaller than the Big Island, but its beaches are pristine and the water is calm, making for good snorkeling conditions. On Kauai we view Waimea Canyon, a gorge 10 miles long in the Kokee State Park, which Mark Twain called "a miniature Grand Canyon." Then we hike on the Kalalau Trail, a trek 11 miles along the Kauais Napoli coast that is famous for its breathtaking views. As the grand finale of this wonderful visit, we learn to make the traditional hula skirt with native leaves and practice steps to the hula dance.
