A tour of Old San Juan, founded in 1521 and a national heritage site, offers viewers a rare opportunity to visit this capital city's most historic homes and glimpse the Puerto Rico of over 500 years ago. The architecture reflects the Spanish style, and homes were built like fortresses. Only one gate remains to enter the city, but San Juan now combines its history with a modern vibrancy that entices visitors to shop and enjoy the vistas.
