Improving reading comprehension ability of the millennial athletic training student
Description
Reading skills are typically taught at the lower grade levels and then assumed thereafter. As a result, little attention is given to reading skills after the primary grades, even though deep comprehension of written material takes a set of skills beyond the mechanics of decoding words. Although reading is one of the primary learning strategies employed throughout the educational process, many college students, freshmen through seniors, often report difficulty comprehending what they read. They are aware of the challenges that this presents to them and want to improve their reading memory. The pattern of early reading instruction followed by college student reading comprehension difficulty indicates that reading comprehension should be taught in college. In that regard, Improving Reading Comprehension Ability of the Millennial Athletic Training Student provides an overview of how instructors can teach reading comprehension in a manner that is appropriate with the characteristics of today's students. The video explains how reading comprehension can be improved through a variety of strategies, each of which is reviewed in detail.
