Spitsbergen, a melting paradise
Description
The Svalbard archipelago, also called Spitsbergen, is located one hour by plane from the North Pole, just short of the polar cap. The splendid islands enjoy a milder temperature, to the extent that they could one day become a sought-after winter ski resort. In fact, they shelter the principal Arctic research center of the planet. In addition, for some reason, the ice melts more quickly here than elsewhere in the Arctic.
