Diamond road
Description
In the Northwest Territories, the diamond mines have now supplanted the gold mines. Located 300 km north of Yellowknife, on an island in the middle of Lac de Gras, Diavik is Canada’s principal diamond mine. Heavy loaded trucks, carrying equipment and supplies cross the spectacular ice road each winter, sustain the operation of the insulated mine.
