Southern ocean survival

Description

Tony Bullimore and Terry Dubois, two round-the-world yachtsmen, capsized in separate incidents, 2,500 kilometres south west of Perth in 1997. Australia mounted one of the largest and most remote rescue missions ever undertaken to save them. The program explores the technology behind satellite distress beacons, modern immersion suits, communication and anti-submarine warfare systems and the medical practices employed to treat hypothermia, dehydration and exhaustion, all of which contributed to their rescue.
