Risk
Description
Contemporary humankind has developed an obsession with risk and safety but how well do we work it out? According to Boston social scientist, Peter Sandman, Risk = Hazard + Outrage. The program looks at three areas of risk: smoking, radiation and chemical sprays. Smoking is an example of high hazard, low outrage while radiation poses far less risk than smoking, but because it's imposed on us, we feel more outrage about it.
