Save me before I'm born
Description
This film follows some very special babies who undergo lifesaving surgery inside the womb. In Cardiff, Sonja has overcome physical disability and several miscarriages to become pregnant with her first child. However, her body's antibodies are attacking the foetus and it now needs multiple live-saving donor transfusions in the womb to take it to term. In Glasgow, baby Olivia has developed severe infections in her lungs placing pressure on her heart. Dr Alan Cameron has placed a shunt in her lung but Olivia has pulled it out inside the womb. And over in Belgium, a mum-to-be finds out that her unborn baby has developed a life-threatening condition. The only man who can help is Professor Jan Deprest who's pioneering the use of a new technique where a balloon is guided through the mouth of the foetus blocking its windpipe.
