Silent honor

Description

First-time director Tanuj Anawaratne presents a true story and a moving portrait of Radha, a high-society woman and politician's wife who is devastated by the tragic death of her beloved son at the hands of the drug underworld. Arjuna, her only child and a piano prodigy, was the center of her existence and hopes. Torn by grief, and with a husband too involved in politics to see her despair, inconsolable Radha herself becomes drug addicted as her world grows darker. Her close friend Cynthia offers her prescription drugs, and Radha becomes a pawn of an international drug cartel. Her friend and fellow socialite ruthlessly connects Radha to Marko from the international mafia, who sells her feel-good drugs. Radha's world grows even darker as Marko gets her pregnant and Cynthia frames her, landing Radha in prison. The film is shot in a real prison, which adds to the realism of an already true story. Imprisoned with other women, Radha is assaulted again, this time by rough and tough prison life. Can she redeem her life from this hell? What of the child she will bring into this world? The film offers us an opportunity to ask questions before falling into choices born out of despair and meaninglessness.
