Black silk
Description
A karmic lesson is illustrated by the lives of two people who get entangled in a web of crime. One of them knowingly gets involved, the other unknowingly. And the consequences get played out as karmic justice awaits its time. Thom works for a nightclub owner who cannot pay his back rent to an owner who is pressuring him. Thom's friend Prae, who is a widow and mother of an infant, is the woman Thom loves and wants to marry. But she is hesitant to get further involved because she finds Thom's work for the nightclub owner distasteful. As Thom's boss plots a solution to his money problem, Thom is asked to involve Prae in a ruse. Things spiral out of control, and the two are caught in a web of consequences that gets worse and worse. The lesson in Black Silk plays out as a cautionary tale to all who do not consider the consequences of their actions. Awards/Festivals: Nominated Golden Berlin Bear, Berlin International Film Festival 1961; 15th Singapore International Film Festival; 10th Pusan International Film Festival.
