Cameroon love letter
Description
Prolific Philippine filmmaker Khavn De La Cruz pays tribute to Cameroon, a nation that has long embraced Philippine cinema, in this work that combines documentary footage with a narrative that mirrors the style of soap operas from De La Cruz's native land. As the director presents a portrait of life in Cameroon through images shot on the streets as they happened, he weaves in the story of a romance told through the letters exchanged between a man and a woman. A man travels to Cameroon after his marriage goes sour, and he falls for a local woman that he's met. However, their messages to one another confirm that despite their affection, there is more that separates them than brings them together. Cameroon Love Letter (For Solo Piano) also features an original score by De La Cruz. Awards/Festivals: Goteborg International Film Festival 2010; International Film Festival Rotterdam 2010.
