Connect. Episode 19
Description
NASA scientists are currently turning their attention back to the moon. A new lunar orbiter is systematically remapping its surface, to replace recorded data that has been lost, or reduced in quality over time. Locusts may be pests but they are of great research value to scientists at Newcastle University, who are studying the locust's collision-avoiding capabilities and trying to adapt that to safety technology in future Volvo motorcars. Studies have shown that the practice of lowering a patient's blood sugar levels in Intensive Care may be harmful rather than helpful. Also in this episode of Connect, Big Ben, London's most famous clock, is celebrating its 150th birthday and getting a long-overdue facelift.
