KS2 History. Teaching chronology. 4
Description
If your pupils have difficulties with chronological understanding, you may be stuck for ideas, or find that the old techniques have become tired. Heather Cox (teacher) and Helen Schmitz (headteacher) agreed that some new activities could be good for their pupils and decided to attend a workshop led by Alan Hodkinson, senior lecturer at the University of Chester who specialises in teaching chronology. Following on from this workshop, which you can see in the partner programme, Heather and Helen put what they learnt into practice and road-test some of the newly developed activities. Including a lively time-machine game, a revamped version of the time-line activity and some maths quizzes, used as a plenary, these activities will give you some great ideas for tackling chronology.
