The Raval Eleven
Description
How should governments tackle possible threats of ""terrorist"" attacks? In the past few years it's been a constant dilemma for authorities and police all over the world. In Spain, the authorities believe they have prevented a massive attack. Eleven immigrants - 10 Pakistanis and one Indian - were arrested almost a year and half ago and charged with plotting bomb attacks on underground railways in Barcelona and other European cities. What should one make of Mohammed Ayub, one of the accused? Family, friends and neighbours see this naturalised Spanish citizen as an elderly pastry cook and pious Muslim who dotes on his grandchildren. The Instructing Judge sees him as the head of a Jihadist terror cell linked to the Tablig movement. This documentary looks at the case and the issues it raises such as the nature of the fight against terrorism and the erosion of Constitutional freedoms.
