Walking for water

Description

A Year 9 class in London learn about water management after watching a film about a family from a small village in Kenya. The class learn about Kenyan sisters Margaret and Ruth Ndichu, who walk to the local river three times a day to fetch enough water for their family. The water they collect is full of chemicals from the surrounding farms and pollution from sewage, but it's the only water they can get. In London, the students are instructed to carry buckets of water around their playground. They are quickly exhausted and empathise with the sisters, becoming keen to find out more about global water issues.
