UK comes to Uganda

Description

Two UK primary teachers who win a competition to deliver lessons in Uganda discover they can learn from school practices developed in Kampala. The winning lessons both involve cultural exchange, including the introduction of Scottish Ceilidh dancing to the Ugandan school. The visiting teachers cope with the lack of resources and huge class sizes but were not expecting the initial nervousness of the children, unused to their informal style of teaching. The Ugandan teachers realise that children can be spilt into smaller groups to work creatively and co-operatively. The UK teachers, meanwhile, are impressed at the way resources are shared within a large cluster of schools and also how parents and the community are involved to support the schools - important lessons to take home.
