Description
At Beormund Primary School in Southwark staff work hard to provide a supportive, structured environment allowing pupils with a wide range of social, emotional and behavioural difficulties to achieve their targets and succeed. The staff employ a wide range of positive strategies. For example, during thinking time pupils reflect on how their inappropriate choices have consequences and the impact of their behaviour on other people. PATHs are creative planning tools that use graphic facilitation to collect information and develop positive future plans. PATHs, or Planning Alternative Tomorrows with Hope, are used to explore individual and school aims and policies and form large displays around the school where everyone can see them and think about supporting each other in achieving their dreams. What the pupils have to say about their school and how they articulate their hopes and dreams is a reflection of how they are included in the whole-school community.
