Lesson starters. Literacy -- radio broadcasts. 2
Description
Glenn Philcox at Gotherington Primary School in Gloucestershire uses radio broadcasts as a fun and engaging way for his Year 6 class to practice the key language and features of a recount. Working in small groups, the pupils take on different roles such as the newsreader, the roving reporter, and the eye-witness. They write a script using a template, which separates the broadcast into different paragraphs, and then record the broadcast using the ICT suite. Playback of the different broadcasts offers a great way to evaluate and reflect on what makes a good recount.
