Description
Gene Payne, Assistant Director of the National College for School Leadership's Networked Learning Group, reviews some of the basic features of an effective learning network. He talks to representatives of the Blackburn with Darwen Networked Learning Community (NLC), which includes 9 secondary schools, about how they got started, what they are aiming to achieve and how their network is developing.Research suggests that successful networks typically share some common characteristics, including a clear design and purpose, a strong focus on pupils, additional opportunities for adult learning and new forms of leadership and management.
