Description
The first days of secondary school are a milestone in the lives of young people. But what are they really like? Do they live up to expectations? And how do pupils feel by half term?We follow the work of three secondary schools in Brighton and Hove on the first days of term. How do they manage the new intake and ensure a positive experience? How do the children feel about not being with their friends, the new timetables and moving from classroom to classroom? We return to the children at half term, observe their parents evenings and find out if the transfer to secondary has lived up to their expectations. Expert advice comes from Professor Maurice Galton from Cambridge University and Professor Barbara McGilchrist from the Institute of Education.
