Interviews and recruitment
Description
An opportunity to see key moments from a series of lessons designed to recreate some of the real life dynamics of a job interview. Developed by business studies teacher Gill Wright, the Year 10 and 11 lessons aim to get pupils to understand the recruitment process from an employer's perspective, and to understand what it's like both to interview candidates and be the subject of a job interview. Areas covered in the lessons include: job descriptions; the preparation and analysis of CVs; and role-play, where pupils take the parts of candidates and interviewers. The pupils experience the difficulties of delivering bad news and discover that positive feedback, even after a negative response, requires thought and planning. The programme demonstrates how students can quickly become immersed in roles and show how the real world of work can be imported into the classroom.
