Demonstrating dynamic geometry
Description
Maths specialist and teacher Carol Knights demonstrates how Dynamic Geometry software can transform the teaching of mathematical concepts by engaging pupils in interactive demonstrations, constructions and explorations. She shows a demonstration and proof of the sum of the angles in a triangle, an interactive number line, and how to use the software to explore reflections, rotations and symmetry. She shows how to do some classic geometrical constructions and a visual illustration of Pythagorean Theorem. Finally, she shows how the software can be used to create graphs and we see this facility used by a class of year 7s to explore the properties of straight line graphs.
