Speaking of peace
Description
Despite the Oslo peace agreement, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues unabated. Many Israelis and Palestinians feel that their situation has deteriorated considerably. This program provides rare insight into the obstacles to peace, as seen through the eyes of seven Israeli professionals working in the field of human rights in the Israeli occupied territories. Through poignant stories and firsthand experiences, we learn about the abuses of the military occupation such as harsh interrogations, the forcible confiscation of land, and the destruction of Palestinian houses. Though these Israelis come from different backgrounds, they share a belief that Jews, so long oppressed by others, should not become the oppressors. Israelis featured are: Dr. Daphna Golan, Director, Bat Shalom; Peretz Kidron, journalist; Allegra Pacheco, human rights attorney, Yuval Ginbar, B Tselem Human Rights Center;Yehezkel Landau, founder, Oz V Shalom. Among the Palestinians represented is Ghazi Ahmad, a HAMAS leader.
