TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) First-Year Grant Aid Application   

TRIO SSS has scholarship opportunities for students in the SSS and SSS STEM programs. Grant Aid will have a minimum award of $500 and be awarded for the 2026-2027 academic year. The amount of grant aid given will be determined by the number of applications and awards given.   

• Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, November 5th, 2025, by 11:59pm. 

• Applications turned in after the deadline will not be accepted unless there are extenuating circumstances.  

Eligibility Requirements

Must be completed during the 2025-26 academic year (fall and spring semesters)*:  

• Be a current UW Oshkosh TRIO SSS or SSS STEM student, in your first year of participation in the program  

• Complete 24 credits for the 2025/26 academic year   

• Meet with your TRIO SSS Academic Advisor during the academic year

   

• Actively participated in your assigned FYE Group or FYE Alternative during the 25-26 academic year. A 70% attendance rate or higher is encouraged to be competitive for grant aid. 

• Actively participated in your assigned FYE Group or FYE Alternative during the 25-26 academic year     

• Have completed the 2025-26 FAFSA application and  

• Be enrolled for both 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 academic year.

Essay Instructions  

Write an essay addressing the following prompts. The essay should be a maximum of 1 to 2 pages double spaced. Save your essay as a word document and upload it when submitting your application through the electronic form. We highly encourage you to use resources like the Writing Center when writing the essay. Please see rubric below for how essays will be scored.  

In your essay, please address the following:  
 

• What aspect of TRIO SSS has impacted you the most and how?  

• How are you paying for college?    

• How may this scholarship impact you next year?     

• What are you most proud of having tried or have learned about yourself while at UW Oshkosh?  

PLEASE NOTE: If you are awarded a scholarship but do not continue to meet the criteria identified above during the Spring 2025 semester, the scholarship will be rescinded and awarded to a different TRIO SSS student.
