Make college more affordable
TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Scholarship Application (Currently not accepting applications- Please check back at the end of October!)
TRIO SSS has scholarship opportunities for students in the SSS and SSS STEM programs. Scholarships will have a minimum award of $500 and be awarded for the 2025-2026 academic year. The number of scholarships given will be determined by the number of applications and awards given.
- Applications will be accepted until Monday, January 6th, 2025, by 11:59pm.
- Applications turned in after the deadline will not be accepted unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Eligibility Requirements
Must be completed during the 2024-25 academic year (fall and spring semesters):
- Be a current UW Oshkosh TRIO SSS or SSS STEM student, in your first year of participation in the program
- Complete 24 credits for the 2024/25 academic year
- Meet with your TRIO SSS Academic Advisor during the academic year
- Actively participated in your assigned Learning Group during the 24-25 academic year
(Transfer or non-traditional students, please speak with your TRIO SSS Academic Advisor regarding this requirement) - Cum GPA 2.25 or higher as of August 31, 2025

Have completed the 2024-25 FAFSA application and
- Be enrolled for both 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic year.

Essay Instructions
Write an essay addressing the following prompts. The essay should be a maximum of 1 to 2 pages double spaced. Save your essay as a word document and upload it when submitting your application through the electronic form. We highly encourage you to use resources like the Writing Center when writing the essay. Please see rubric below for how essays will be scored.
In your essay, please address the following:
- How are you paying for college and how may this scholarship impact you next year?
- Share how the TRIO SSS program has impacted you this year.
- Share something that you are most proud of or have learned about yourself while at UW Oshkosh.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are awarded a scholarship but do not continue to meet the criteria identified above during the Spring 2025 semester, the scholarship will be rescinded and awarded to a different TRIO SSS student.
