Graduated: Fall 2020

Major: Biology (Healthcare Science Emphasis)

Doua is currently attending her final year of medical school at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine & Public Health. She will be graduating with her medical degree in Spring of 2026!

Doua is in her final year of medical school, training alongside residents and attending physicians across a wide range of specialties. At the same time, she’s activley interviewing for residency positions through January 2026. Her goal is to match into an Internal Medicine residency program with a dedicated Women’s Health track, where she can continue expanding her clinical expertise and deepen her commitment to advancing women’s health.

I have so many fond memories of TRIO SSS it’s impossible to pick one favorite. I served as a learning group leader for two years and truly cherished the bonds I built with my fellow leaders and mentors. Our sessions were always filled with jokes, laughter, and genuine connection whether we were working through team activities or simply sharing dinner together. One year, we even did a Secret Santa exchange, and it was one of the most loving and wholesome experiences I’ve had. TRIO SSS never felt like just a program; it truly felt like a family away from home.

Major: Secondary Education – Spanish

Minors: English as a Second Language (ESL) and Bilingual education

Jessica is currently a 5th-year Lead ESL Teacher at her old high school. It’s been rewarding work to work alongside her former teachers and watch students grow. This year, she’s specializing in math support for grades 9-12 and have a study skills class calle VISION (Valuing Individual Student Success and Increasing Opportunities Now). Just like SSS, it’s a culturally diverse group that has fun learning social and academic skills for the future. They have many languages spoken at school like Spanish, Arabic, Hmong, Turkish, Russian, and Vietnamese. Spanish is Jessica’s heritage language, so she loves teaching and learning in different languages every day. 

My favorite memory as an SSS mentor and mentee would have to be the end-of-year “yearbook posters.” We would put our names on a colorful sheet and pass them around to write things to each other. What was supposed to be a silent activity always turned into a laughing, crying, and a time to reminisce. I still have all of my posters and now I use this activity with my students. My SSS mentors, mentees, and advisors were truly the best humans to learn and grow with.

Certificate: LGBTQ Studies

Rain is currently working on her Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling at Minnesota State University – Mankato. She works in a graduate assistantship role as part of the Equity 2030 initiative under the Counseling and Student Personnel Office. 

My favorite memory is associated to all the laughs I had with my co-workers and students. The bonds you form while in TRIO SSS are so special!-I also really enjoyed our trips about graduate school,  please take on those opportunities
