Consistent with federal regulations (42 CFR Part 50, 45 CFR Part 94), the financial conflict of interest regulations were established to promote objectivity in research for which Public Health Service (PHS) funding is sought and to promote responsible prospective contractors.  The regulations establish standards that provide a reasonable expectation that the design, conduct, and reporting of research funded under federal grants or cooperative agreements will be free from bias resulting from Investigator financial conflict of interest. The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is committed to ensuring the public’s trust that all federally-supported research is conducted with the highest scientific and ethical standards.

Training and disclosure of all significant financial interests that relate to an Investigator’s Institutional responsibilities are required under the regulation. investigator is defined as  Principal Investigator, Co-Principal Investigator, and Key Personnel. The policy applies to all Investigators of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh who have research funded under federal grants or cooperative agreements and applicants seeking federal funding. In addition, some non-federal sponsors apply the federal conflict of interest regulations to their award and conditions.
