Agreement Review
Researchers and administrators may encounter several types of collaborative agreements that vary by the goal and nature of the agreement. Many of these agreements must be routed through the OSP. The chart below may be used to assist researchers and administrators in identifying the proper agreement needed based on the purpose and the type of internal review. Please note that OSP may need to route some agreements through UW System Office of Legal Counsel and/or other university departments or units. To initiate a new agreement or to request review of an agreement provided by an outside collaborator, please complete the Agreement Review Request Form:

| Agreement to Transfer Extramural Funds Between UW Institutions | Simplified agreement that allows inter-institutional transfer of extramural funds between UW Campuses | OSP | Controller |
| Non-Disclosure/Confidentiality Agreement (NDA) | Restricts disclosure and use of proprietary or protected information | OSP | IO for Research |
| Data Use or Data Transfer Use Agreement (DUA or DTUA) | DTUA governs transfer of data collected or developed (typically if data is restricted/non-publicly available); DUA explains how data may be used, shared, timeline for destruction | OSP | IO for Research or Controller |
| Material Transfer Use Agreement (MTA) | Governs the transfer of tangible research materials; defines the rights, obligations, and restrictions for both the provider and recipient with respect to the materials and any derivatives | OSP | IO for Research or Controller |
