WELCOME

We invite you to explore the many exciting educational, research and practice experiences and opportunities the Department of Public Administration at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh offers to you!

Our mission is to provide a high-quality education in the field of public administration to graduate and undergraduate students, to conduct research relevant to theory and practice, and to engage in service to improve the diverse communities in which we live and work.  Our vision is that the Department of Public Administration will be nationally recognized for fostering the development of exceptional leaders dedicated to the ideals of public service. We offer three programs: the Master of Public Administration Program, the Graduate Healthcare Management Certificate Program, and the undergraduate Public Administration Minor Program.

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) program at UW Oshkosh is one of the best in the state of Wisconsin. Its comprehensive, carrier-oriented curriculum with four major emphases in General Public Administration, Health Agency Administration, Nonprofit Management and Leadership, and Fire and Emergency Administration and Management prepares students to lead and manage a diverse range of state and local government, public, nonprofit and health care organizations. The MPA program is also competitive, when it comes to affordability, with similar programs in the state of Wisconsin while delivering quality, marketability, and convenience. It can be completed either on-campus or 100 percent online in as few as two years, with offerings in fall, spring and summer semesters. It is open to mid-career professionals as well as those looking to begin their career.

For those currently in health care administrative and managerial positions, the Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management program will help refine, update, and improve career potential and help add value to performance. For pre-service individuals, this non-degree program is an excellent way to build the educational foundation for a career in health care management.

The undergraduate Public Administration Minor program provides students with the knowledge to begin a public administration career and to help them make decisions about what direction they want their career to take.

All three programs are guided by the values of academic rigor, applied public administration, public service and community engagement, democratic principles, student-centered and inclusive environment, and integrity. Students will receive instruction and advising from dedicated faculty members who are known nationally and internationally for their research, educational work, and community service.

We encourage you to explore our website to learn more about these programs, and if they inspire you as much as they inspire our current students, faculty, and staff, we warmly welcome you to join us at UWO!

For more information about the programs or to schedule a tour or a personal meeting, please contact the Chair of Public Administration Department, Dr. Anna Filipova at: filipova@uwosh.edu.
