Scholarships

The psychology department offers students the following scholarships:

• Michael D. Kogutek Scholarship ($2,000; 4 opportunities)
  • Minimum Requirements: full-time psychology major with two to four semesters remaining at UW Oshkosh; 3.0 GPA; must demonstrate financial need based on an essay and must plan to attend graduate school in psychology; non-athletic extracurricular activities considered a plus.
• George R. Soika Scholarship ($1,500; 1 opportunity)
  • Minimum Requirements: full-time psychology major with two to four semesters remaining at UW Oshkosh; 3.4 GPA; FAFSA-determined financial need.
• Dr. Roy and Geraldene Dixon-Robinson Scholarship ($1,000; 2 opportunities)
  • Minimum Requirements: Applicant must be a sophomore or junior enrolled at the Oshkosh campus. Applicant must be majoring in psychology and must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicant must have financial need based on the FAFSA.

Scholarship Application Process

UW Oshkosh uses an online scholarship application process.
Please go to Academic Works to apply.

• We recommend entering “psychology” in the “show filter” box to limit results to only psychology scholarships.
• Beatrice Barlow Lampert and Phillip D. Lampert Scholarship and Bowman Scholarship are also open to Psychology Students.

When applying, you need to prepare:

1. Current STAR report
2. Short essay (less than 1,000 words) discussing:
   • Educational and career plans, including whether you plan to attend graduate school in psychology.
   • How your experiences outside of college classes (e.g., research, volunteer, work, club activities) have contributed to your educational experience. This is particularly important for the Kogutek Scholarship.
   • Financial need.
3. Two faculty recommendations (at least one must be from a psychology faculty member)
