Melanie Marine,  Interim Testing Services Director:  Faculty Services and SOS Procedures
In person/small group
Oshkosh campus

Virtual Presentation - click here

Good afternoon!

My name is Melanie Marine, and I'm the Interim Director for Testing Services. I have some important information for you to share with your area as we begin the new school year.

SOS reminders:

  • Qualtrics (the software that administers the SOS) links to PeopleSoft to pull data.  The SOS form is sent out to students based on the class end date listed in PeopleSoft.  For example, the last day of the 14-week term is Friday, Dec. 17th.  If Friday, December 24th would be listed in PeopleSoft instead, students would get the link to the SOS after the course is over, which is contrary to the Faculty Senate SOS Policy.  Please work with your ADA, faculty, and IAS members to ensure that the end date in PeopleSoft is correct for all classes in your area.

  • The CAPP program will be administering the SOS for their program this year and CAPP SOS data will be separate from Oshkosh data.

  • These links will direct you to the policies that Faculty Senate approved last November regarding teaching evaluations for your reference:

  • Per policy, only faculty have access to their own data.  Here is the link to access the SOS Faculty Dashboard (use your NetID and password to log in):
  • A guide to explain the 3 dashboards faculty may access can be found here:
Testing Services reminders:

We are currently operating in person and here to help all faculty and IAS.

  • Classroom Testing:  Ruth Picknell and her staff are ready to administer paper and pencil exams in Polk 2.  Call Ruth at 920-424-0073 or email at picknelr@uwosh.edu to reserve the test administration area for your students on specific dates.  All forms are also on our website:
Students will then be able to test in a secure, proctored area on days and times of your choosing. (Act quickly -- popular dates are filling up!)

  • Test Scoring:  Nancy Bogenhagen and her staff are able to score those tests in Polk 4, which includes formatting the data into 4 reports for each test: class response, item analysis, roster, and score distribution.  All information and forms are located on our website:
Your scored tests are typically returned within 72 hours.  Nancy can be reached at 920-424-0070 or by email at bogenhag@uwosh.edu.

New Faculty Orientation:

  • Do you have new faculty in your department who joined us within the last 3 years?  New Faculty Orientation, sponsored by the Provost's Office, will be held over the fall semester in smaller, topic-specific sessions.

  • The first session is all about Testing Services and SOS procedures.

  • Have your new faculty tentatively put Wednesday, Sept. 22nd, from 3-4pm (room TBD but in Sage Hall) on their calendars  Space is limited,  more info to come...

What questions do you have?  Email me at marinem@uwosh.edu.  I'm happy to help!

Jenna Graff, OIE:
International Opportunities for Faculty

Virtual Presentation - click here

Welcome to UW Oshkosh!

My name is Jenna Graff, and I’ve been at UWO for 25 years!  I’ve been Director of the Office of International Education since 2002, and I’m looking forward to introducing you to
programs and services that could be helpful to you as you teach:

  • non-native speakers of English,
  • current students on student visas (F/J visas), and
  • future study abroad students.

Most new employees correctly assume that study abroad runs through our office.  Would you have also guessed that we support:

  • ENGLISH LANGUAGE:
~  intensive English program / English language support for non-native speakers of English

  • INBOUND Students
~  immigration compliance and advising for F & J student visa holders
~  immigration compliance and advising for J scholar, researcher, professor visa holders

  • STUDY AWAY (domestic study)
~  in addition to study abroad, including group programming with a UWO leader

  • IMMIGRATION
    ~  institutional compliance for the F / J programs

  • HESSEN, GERMANY / WISCONSIN EXCHANGE
~  the administrative center for all University of Wisconsin System institutions

  • CUSTOM GROUP PROGRAMS
    ~  for students or professionals

I’ll send you a calendar invitation for this Friday, October 8 from 2:30 – 3:00pm.  I apologize for the timing, but it’s the only 30-minute period that is open on almost everyone’s calendar.  If you can’t make it on Friday and would like to schedule over a different time period, just let me know.

Feel free to send me questions in advance so that I address what is most important to you.

If you’d like to do some exploring before we meet, you’ll find us at uwosh.edu/oie.
