Center for Academic Support and DiversityThe Center for Academic Support and Diversity provides academic and student support services which assist in the recruitment, enrollment, retention and graduation of multicultural (African American, Asian American, Hispanic/Latino American, Hmong American and Native American) and eligible first-generation, low-income students. |
English Language AssistanceThrough face-to-face tutoring sessions, the English Language Tutor can help non-native speakers of English with processing course materials, speaking English, English grammar, and writing in English. Tutoring sessions are scheduled according to the needs of the student and typically last between 30- and 60- minutes. |
Math LabThe Department of Mathematics operates two free drop-in tutor labs, both located in Swart Hall. The Mathematics Tutoring Lab in Swart 113 is designed to assist students enrolled in Math 104, 106, 108, 110, 171, 172, 201, 204, 206, 211, 217, 273, and PBIS 189. The Developmental Mathematics Lab in Swart Hall 301 welcomes all Math 100 Elementary Algebra and math 103 Intermediate Algebra students. |
Native American Student ServicesThis office coordinates the retention services for Native American students assisting them with all aspects of their college experience, personal as well as academic. Services include linkages with office such as the Center for Academic Support and Diversity, Center for Academic Resources, Counseling Center, Math Lab, Reading Study Center, McNair Scholars program, and the Writing Center. The office also assists admissions with the recruitment of Native American students through community outreach events and serves as a cultural resource for the whole campus community. Reading Study CenterThe Reading Study Center at UW Oshkosh has eight professional staff to assist students with study skills, preparing for tests and finding a workshop that is right for each student. The Reading Study Center also has nine student workers who are hired to provide one-on-one assistance to students who utilize the center. |
Student Support ServicesStudent Support Services (SSS), a federally funded TRiO program, assists students through intensive and intentional advising and weekly learning groups. SSS serves first-generation college students (neither parent has a four-year college degree) and guides them through their college career. |
Writing CenterThe University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Writing Center aims to help all students become better writers. Center staff members assist both experienced and inexperienced writers through free one-on-one, collaborative sessions with trained consultants, and we assist at any stage of the writing process for any assignment or project and in any discipline. |
