Annex Gallery

The Annex Gallery is a student-curated art gallery on the campus of UW Oshkosh. The Annex seeks student-initiated projects and exhibits of a local or regional scope. These exhibits are selected by a board of students elected at the end of each spring semester. The board meets regularly with a designated art faculty director.

The gallery is located on the second floor of the Arts and Communication building, in N204.

UW Oshkosh Art & Graphic Design Faculty Exhibition

Reception, September 17, 6 – 7:30 pm
This exhibition will highlight recent work in ceramics, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture by current UW Oshkosh faculty.

Terri Warpinski: Restless Earth

Annex Gallery, Arts and Communications Center room N204
Terri Warpinski is a photographer who lives and works in De Pere Wisconsin, and her art reflects her interest in the traces of human activity embedded in the landscape. She creates large-scale photographic collages and mixed media installations that explore the histories of our fragile ecosystems and land preserves as they undergo a process of re-wilding and ecological recovery.

Ger Xiong: Hold On Tight

Artist Talk and Reception October 22 5 – 7:30 pm
Ger Xiong was born in Thailand and immigrated to the United States in 1993 as a Hmong refugee of the Vietnam War. Through his Hmong American experience, his work looks at the navigation and negotiation of cultural identity through the lens of assimilation, migration, and colonization, reflecting loss, commodification, and the resilience of being Hmong. He uses jewelry, adornment, objects, and textiles as a tool for storytelling and documenting his Hmong history and culture throughout their migration.

Advanced Critique

This exhibition features the work of current UW Oshkosh students enrolled in art classes. The exhibition is an opportunity for the students to see their work in a gallery setting and allows them to get feedback on ongoing projects and have discussions to help them work through artistic ideas.

Adrienne Sloane

Annex Gallery, Arts and Communications Center room N204
Adrienne Sloane is a mixed media/fiber studio artist who absorbs and translates current events into multifaceted and deeply felt constructions that reflect both her own moral universe as well as the ethos of the day. She uses iconic imagery to create work that is a visceral response to the moral and political landscape. By visually addressing the frayed and unraveled places around her, she seeks to promote thoughtful dialogue about critical questions as we navigate the difficult times we live in.
