Two tools help keep our community informed.
UWO Mobile is the UW Oshkosh app. It provides everyday campus resources,
safety information, maps, reporting tools and push notifications.
Titan Alert is the University’s emergency notification system.
Most Titan Alerts are also delivered through UWO Mobile as push notifications.

The best way to stay informed depends on who you are.
Students and employees are automatically connected to Titan Alert via email and text (if you have your cell phone in our system). You can easily verify this by going to getrave.com, searching “Oshkosh”, logging in, and adding and/or updating your cell phone number.
Guests, parents, contractors, event attendees and nearby residents should download UWO Mobile and keep notifications enabled, follow us on social media, or check out the news feed on the Police Department website.

How You Receive Alerts
The University uses different communication tools for different audiences.

Students and Employees You are automatically enrolled.Current students and employees automatically receive Titan Alert emails. Text alerts are also sent when a mobile phone number is associated with the person’s University account. You can verify that your phone is in the system by visiting Rave Emergency Communications. UWO Mobile provides another way to receive Titan Alerts through push notifications while also providing everyday campus information and safety tools.

How Information May Be Shared
Depending on the situation, UW Oshkosh may use one or more communication methods.
Not every situation requires every channel.

How decisions are made
When are Titan Alerts sent?
Every situation is different. When determining whether to issue a Titan Alert,
University officials consider the information available at the time, the potential
impact to the campus community, the immediacy of the situation and whether sharing
information will help people make informed decisions about their safety.
Considerations may include:
- Whether there is a current or potential threat to the campus community
- Whether people need to take immediate action
- Whether the information has been reasonably verified
- Whether communication could improve safety or reduce uncertainty
- Whether sharing information could affect an active response or investigation
The University selects the communication methods that best fit the circumstances and the community we’re intending to reach. Our goal is to provide timely, accurate and meaningful information while balancing
public safety, investigative integrity and the facts available at the time.
Incidents near campus
Some alerts involve activity outside campus boundaries.
An incident does not have to occur on University property to affect the safety of students, employees or visitors. UW Oshkosh may communicate about activity near campus when the circumstances could reasonably affect the campus community or University operations. These situations are evaluated using a similar decision process. Decisions are guided by community safety, the need for people to know, the reliability of the available information and the potential effect on an active response or investigation.

What UWO Mobile Provides
UWO Mobile is more than an emergency notification app. It provides convenient access to campus information and safety resources.

Mobile Blue Light Contact emergency services and share your location when assistance is needed. This calls UWOPD when you’re within the City of Oshkosh. When you’re outside of the City of Oshkosh it will call 911. |
