A Movement Rooted in Community
The We Heart You initiative was developed through the work of the Winnebago County Overdose Fatality Review Team to break the silence around substance use, reduce stigma, and ultimately save lives. What began as a resource card has grown into a full community movement, including the app, outreach efforts, and a widely attended We Heart You: Recovery in Our Community bi-annual event.

What’s New in Version 2.0
The We Heart You App 2.0 features a more intuitive design with easier navigation and an improved overall user experience. The update includes expanded and regularly updated resource listings, along with enhanced mapping features that help users quickly locate nearby services. A new live chat function also allows individuals to connect directly with recovery support specialists via phone, text, chat, or email.

Comprehensive Support at Your Fingertips
The app is designed to support individuals at any stage of their journey, as well as family members, friends, and professionals. It offers access to treatment resources, support meetings, and harm-reduction tools such as Narcan. Users can also find information on food, housing, employment, and county services, along with frequently asked questions and mental and behavioral health screening tools.

Continuing the Momentum
The We Heart You team encourages community members to watch the event recap video, download the app, and share with others. This work is about more than resources. It is about supporting individuals facing substance use disorder, the families who stand beside them, and the first responders and providers who continue to show up every day to connect people with care and compassion.

Together, the message remains clear: We see you. We care about you. We heart you.
