The UW Oshkosh Police Department is proud to announce the promotion of Sergeant Chance Duenkel to the rank of Lieutenant.
This promotion reflects our commitment to recognizing and advancing team members who consistently uphold our mission, vision, and values. Our mission is to serve our community by building relationships, reducing fear, and solving problems – treating every person with the fairness, respect, and care we would want for ourselves and approaching every interaction as an opportunity to make a positive difference
Lieutenant Duenkel’s connection to UW Oshkosh runs deep. He began his career here in 2008 as a student, working as a Community Service Officer. Over the years, he has held a wide range of roles, including CSO Dispatcher, LTE Dispatcher, Police Officer, CSO Supervisor, Residence Life Liaison, Police Sergeant, SWAT Team Member, DAAT Instructor, Field Training Officer (FTO), FTO Supervisor, Evidence & Property Supervisor, Interim Detective Sergeant, ICAC Investigator, Taser Instructor, and ICAT Instructor (just to name a few). His dedication to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and the community we serve is unmatched and this promotion is well-deserved.
The example Lieutenant Duenkel has set for those who aspire to work their way through an organization is admirable. It is a path that can serve as a strong model for our student employees; many of whom begin their careers here as CSOs and later move into roles at police agencies across the state and beyond.
Please join us in congratulating Lieutenant Duenkel on this well-earned achievement.
Chris Tarmann
Chief of Police
