City of Oshkosh – Weapons Incident | 1100 Block Cherry St

UPDATE:  In reference to the incident in the 1100 block of Cherry Street in Oshkosh. On 3/13/2025 Oshkosh Detectives and Investigators from the Vice and Narcotics Unit continued their investigation into this incident and took a 15-year-old male from Menasha into custody for two counts of First Degree Attempted Reckless Homicide, and First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety. The juvenile male was located in the 500 block of Sixth Street in the City of Menasha. He was placed at a secure detention facility. Oshkosh detectives conducted a search of a residence and located a handgun.  Within 24 hours of this investigation a total of three handguns were taken into evidence by the Oshkosh Police Department related to this investigation.

The Oshkosh Police Department wishes to thank the Menasha Police Department and the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance in this investigation.

The safety of our citizens is our top priority. The Oshkosh Police Department stands against gun violence that effects our community, these are senseless acts that threaten the safety and peace of our neighborhoods.

OSHKOSH, WI (March 13, 2025): The Oshkosh Police Department responded to two separate weapons incidents that occurred in the area of the 1100 block of Cherry Street and 300 block of Dove Street in the City of Oshkosh.

On 3/12/2025 at approximately 5:45 PM, Officers from the Oshkosh Police Department were dispatched to a weapons call in the 1100 block of Cherry Street. There was a report of numerous gun shots in the area. Officers immediately responded to the area and located several individuals inside a vehicle.  These individuals were detained and spoken with by detectives and officers. A search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating a handgun and marijuana.

The police department later received information that another subject fled the area on foot and was not located.  The Oshkosh Police Department is requesting anyone with information as to this person’s identity please contact 920-236-5700.

Officers and investigators conducted a search of a residence and located another handgun and marijuana.

At this time a 19-year-old male from Neenah is in custody for Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Marijuana (2nd Offense), and Felony Bail Jumping.

At this time a 16-year-old male from Oshkosh is being referred to the Winnebago County District Attorney’s Office for Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon by a Person Under 18.

We believe the incident in the 1100 block of Cherry Street is an isolated incident and no other residents in the area are a target of this.  No one was injured as a result of this.

On 3/12/2025 at approximately 10:35 PM, Officers from the Oshkosh Police Department were dispatched to a weapons call in the 300 block of Dove Street.  There were reports of numerous gun shots in the area.  An unknown suspect was observed by witnesses firing several shots towards a residence and fleeing the area in a vehicle.  No one was injured as a result of this.

At this time it is unknown if these two weapons incidents are linked.  Detectives are still investigating these incidents.
