Next Generation Modeling Courses for Teachers (NGMCs) are graduate-level online asynchronous courses for practicing physics and physical science teachers (grades 10-12). NGMCs are jointly supported by the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Department of Physics/Astronomy, College of Letters and Science, and College of Education and Human Services. Click Program Overview (or access from the left menu) for a complete program description. The NGMCs program is a proud partner of
- Modeling Teachers International (MTI)
- the American Modeling Teachers Association (AMTA), and
- the National Association of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP).
All NGMCs provide a suitable entry point into the Modeling Method of Physics Instruction and the concepts of Deep Learning in Introductory Physics. The NGMCs program actively seeks international participation.
Unfamiliar with the Modeling Method of Instruction? Click here for a brief video introduction.
Interested in obtaining a Master’s degree? You can use NGMC credits to earn a Master of Science Education degree through the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Department of Teaching and Learning (T&L Physics Modeling Program). The degree is 30 credits: 18 credits in topics related to physics teaching (i.e., NGMCs) and 12 credits in topics related to conducting educational research in the classroom. For more information, contact Dr. Eric Brunsell (brunsele@uwosh.edu), Department of Teaching and Learning, Graduate Program Coordinator.
