Next Generation Modeling Courses for Teachers (NGMCs)

The NGMCs are graduate-level online asynchronous courses designed for practicing physics and physical science teachers in grades 10-12. NGMCs are jointly supported by the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh Physics and Astronomy program, School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) and the School of Education and Human Services.

Click Program Overview or access from the left menu for a complete program description.

The NGMCs program is a proud partner with:

All NGMCs provide a suitable entry point into the Modeling Method of Physics Instruction and the concepts of Deep Learning in Introductory Physics. The NGMCs program actively seeks international participation.

Unfamiliar with the Modeling Method of Instruction? Click here for a brief video introduction.

Interested in obtaining a Master’s degree?  You can use NGMC credits to earn a Master of Science Education degree through the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh Teaching and Learning program (T&L Physics Modeling Program). The degree is 30 credits: 18 credits in topics related to physics teaching (i.e., NGMCs) and 12 credits in topics related to conducting educational research in the classroom. For more information, contact Deb Kneser,  (soehsgrad@uwosh.edu), Teaching and Learning, Graduate Program Coordinator.
