Tickets/Citations
Regulations for parking are enforced year-round, even when classes are not in session. Parking restrictions are noted on this website and on signs placed outside of each lot. Vehicles in violation of these restrictions will be issued tickets according to our policies.
If you desire to appeal a ticket, a written appeal must be received by the Parking Services office within 72 hours of the time of the ticket (excluding Saturdays and Sundays). Online appeals are to be filed at uwosh.aimsparking.com. Late appeals will not be accepted.
Reasons that a ticket is unlikely to be overturned through the appeal process:
- Parking without a permit or without paying the AMP mobile app
- Lack of “convenient” or legal parking spaces (including 15 min zones)
- Not aware of parking regulations
- Only being there for a short time / only there for a few minutes
- Took longer than anticipated
- Lack of funds / cannot afford citation
- Can’t afford to purchase permit
- Didn’t notice / read / see posted signs or painted line markings
- Running late / didn’t have time
- You’ve done it before & didn’t get ticketed
- Another person (non-parking employee) said you could
- No one else got a ticket
- Had flashers or hazard lights on
- Loading / unloading
- Failure to display a permit and/or disabled parking placard
- Will never do it again
- First time offense
- Classes were not in session
Every time period that a vehicle remains in excess of the posted limit without payment will constitute a violation. In areas where the time limit is greater than 15 minutes and is less than one hour, regulated by metered (AMP) parking, by sign, or otherwise marked as timed parking, a separate violation occurs every hour that the vehicle remains in violation.

For tickets unpaid beyond 25 days, the past-due amount will be placed on the student’s account with an additional billing fee OR referred to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for suspension of vehicle registration, based on the discretion of Parking Services. Also, non-payment of fines may cause a HOLD to be placed on all student records, including grades and transcripts. Repeat offenders are subject to a $25.00 surcharge on all tickets.
Parking Services enforcement officers, University police officers, or residence hall directors are authorized to have a vehicle towed away, if it is found to violate any parking regulation. Repeat violations and/or nonpayment of parking tickets may result in towing and impounding the vehicle involved or removing it from state property at the owner’s expense. If your vehicle is towed, contact the Parking Services office to pay all outstanding tickets and then learn the location of the impounding agent. The driver or owner of a towed vehicle will be responsible for any damage incurred due to towing. Towed vehicles will be released when all outstanding tickets, towing charges and storage fees have been paid. Abandoned or impounded vehicles will be disposed after 60 days, unless the owner contacts the Parking Services office and makes provisions to release the vehicle and pay all outstanding fines and expenses.

Tow-Away Policy
Parking Services enforcement officers, University police officers, or residence hall directors are authorized to have a vehicle towed away if it is found to be in violation of any parking regulation.
Repeat violations and/or nonpayment of parking tickets may also result in impounding the vehicle involved or removing it from University owned or operated property at owner’s expense. During a snow emergency, vehicles parked in any employee, commuter or visitor lot after midnight, or any lot designated as a closed lot will be ticketed and towed to allow snow removal. If your vehicle is towed, contact the Parking Services office to pay all outstanding tickets and then learn the location of the impounding agent. The driver or owner of a towed vehicle will be responsible for the outstanding balance on the account and the towing and storage expenses.
The University is not responsible for any damage incurred due to towing.
Towed vehicles will be released when all outstanding tickets, towing charges and storage fees have been paid.
