Parking Regulations
Effective Aug. 1, 2020
The policies and regulations included throughout this website have been approved by the Chancellor and reviewed by the Parking Advisory Committee, which is comprised of faculty, staff and student representatives from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh campus.
Authority to establish regulations governing motor vehicle use on campus for visitors, employees and students is derived from Wisconsin Statutes. These rules are enacted pursuant to the authority granted the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System under Section 36.11 (8)(a) and (b) and (8e) of state statutes and, in turn, granted to the Chancellor by the Board of Regents.
All Wisconsin motor vehicle laws are applicable to the same extent as though this campus and its streets are public highways.
Minor modifications in lot assignments and parking regulations to accommodate unforeseen circumstances or special events may be made during the year. Every effort will be made to provide ample notice of any such notification to the University community.
Snow plowing in lots may temporarily occupy some parking spaces.
*****
Parking permits are not a substitute for specific spaces signed for AMP Park or for any other reserved space without the appropriate permit. Permits are also not a substitute for the AMP Park areas on High Avenue and Osceola Street.
- Parking regulations are enforced year-round, even when classes are not in session.
- If your vehicle is unattended, it is parked.
- Using your vehicle’s hazard lights does not excuse illegal parking.
Who needs a University Parking Permit?
Every person who parks a motor vehicle on University property, including a motorcycle or moped, must have a valid University parking permit, which may be purchased online or in our office. Alternately, parking on the Oshkosh campus may be purchased for short-term needs through the mobile app called AMP Park. The app is available for free download on Apple or Google Play.

Enforcement
Enforcement is 24 hours a day. Visitor weekend parking (i.e. parking without the need for a permit) is only allowed 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays. During all other times, parking permits are required and vehicles must be parked in appropriate UWO parking lots.
*All employee/commuter/visitor lots are closed midnight – 6 a.m. Vehicles parked during these times are subject to closed lot tickets. These violations are always strictly enforced.
Parking is not permitted in non-resident lots midnight-6 a.m. or on city streets 2-5 a.m.
During a snow emergency, vehicles parked in any commuter/employee/visitor lot after midnight, or any lot designated as a closed lot, may be ticketed and towed to allow snow removal.
Repeat offenders are subject to doubling of fine values.
Every time period that a vehicle remains in excess of the posted limit without payment will constitute a new violation. In areas where the time limit is greater than 15 minutes and is less than one hour, regulated by metered (AMP) parking, by sign, or otherwise marked as timed parking, a separate violation occurs every hour that the vehicle remains in violation.
