All students at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh who self-select as having difficulty in coursework due to the English language may access tutoring free of charge.
Degree-seeking, exchange and visiting students may choose tutoring related to English language skills development or content area tutoring. IEP student tutoring focuses on language skills development.
The Center for Academic Resources has a professional tutor who assists students for whom English is a second or non-native language. This tutor works with individual students to help process course material (e.g., learning difficult vocabulary, making connections between concepts, comprehending cultural background, interpreting course assignments), be understood in English (e.g., pronunciation, presentations, classroom participation strategies), and effectively use English grammar ( e.g., subject/verb agreement, plurals, tenses).
All students who need English Language Assistance must have an appointment. Email els@uwosh.edu or call 424-2304 to schedule.
