BSN to DNP Program
NOW OFFERING A MSN FNP OPTION
The UWO School of Nursing and Health Professions is now offering a MSN FNP step-out option within the BSN to DNP FNP Emphasis. With the MSN step-out option, students can leave the program after they obtain the MSN degree, sit for FNP certification, and once certification is obtained, they can begin practicing as a FNP. If interested in obtaining the DNP degree, students may continue on in the curriculum, or they may return in one year to complete the curriculum. The Doctor of Nursing Practice–Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Emphasis is a BSN to DNP program offered in a full-time (three year) or part-time (four year) plan of study. This hybrid program prepares graduates for the highest level of nursing practice by integrating courses in evidence-based practice, informatics, leadership, collaboration, and knowledge of systems and healthcare policy with specialized FNP education. Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for the FNP certification examination.
Our FNP Emphasis is hybrid with some courses being 100% online and some having on campus class meetings. Review our plan of study (found online here: https://uwosh.edu/con/wp-content/uploads/sites/77/2024/03/BSN-DNP-FNP_Plans-of-Study_2024.pdf) to see which courses are 100% online and which would have on campus requirements. (Courses in bold are 100% online.) In semesters in which there are on campus classes, students usually come once every other week. This means students come to campus about six to seven times each semester.
