MODEL UNITED NATIONS

What is Model UN (MUN)?

Model United Nations is the only academic team on our campus.  Through intense preparation, we develop leadership, negotiation, research, and communication skills that will serve you as well in life as they will in Model UN competitions.

In Model UN, we simulate debates in the United Nations on issues ranging from terrorism to climate change, serving as delegates from multiple countries around the world.  Weekly meetings teach members how to be impactful consensus-builders. We work hard to hone our skills, which we then take to competitions in St. Louis and New York City each spring, and sometimes abroad as well.  We have a track record of successes, making the UW Oshkosh Model UN team among the finest in the country.

We are supported financially and administratively by the Provost’s Office, the UW Oshkosh Foundation and the UW Oshkosh Office of Sponsored Programs.  We also receive funding for the Model UN Student Organization (the student organization that supports the team and sponsors events for all interested students) from the Student Allocations Committee.  Participation in MUN competitions is paid for by these offices, with little to no cost for members.

Our Model UN team is advised by Dr. Tracy Slagter (Political Science) and Dr. Ang Subulwa (International Studies).  We invite you to explore this site and contact modelun@uwosh.edu with any questions.  We look forward to welcoming new students to our team!
