Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan service is available to UW Oshkosh faculty, students (including Online Learning students) and staff in order to provide access to materials the UW Oshkosh Libraries does not own. Limited ILL service is available to Alumni Association members and retired staff.

 

Login to place a request, renew a loan, retrieve electronically delivered articles, and to review all active requests. For a tutorial, please see the steps below.

  • You will need to sign in to your ILL account with your NetID and password (student, staff or faculty) or library card (community member or alumni) to initiate a request (highlighted in red in the image below). For the best search experience, please sign in before starting your search.

  • Once you've located your item, scroll down the item's record to the "Get It" field. Note the link to the text "Request via Interlibrary Loan" (highlighted in red) and click that.

  • Select UW Oshkosh from the dropdown list of institutions on the following screen.

  • On the following screen, ensure that your pickup location is for your preferred campus (Oshkosh, Fox Cities, or Fond du Lac), and that the appropriate fields have already been filled in. Then click the blue "Submit Request" button at the bottom of the page.

  • You will receive an email notification when your item is available to download (articles) or pick up at your preferred campus location (physical materials such as print books). You may check on the status of your item(s) from the main menu of your interlibrary loan account.

Interlibrary Loan is not intended for reserve or group use. Service is provided in accordance with the Copyright Law of 1975, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998, and the International and National Interlibrary Loan Codes.

 

Warning concerning copyright restrictions:

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.  Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction.  One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research."  If a user makes a request of, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement.  This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgement, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.

 

 

Services for Other Libraries

The Interlibrary Loan department of the UW Oshkosh Libraries also provides material to other libraries in accordance with the above-mentioned law and codes. Loans of books, government documents, and some microforms are possible. Reference, reserve, and special collections do not circulate. Loans and photocopies are free to members of reciprocal consortia (FVLC, FRVALC, LVIS, NEWIL, NEW ERA, UW-SYSTEM, WILS) and libraries with special agreements. All other U.S. and Canadian libraries pay $10.00 per item. International loans and copies are $40.00.

 

Requests may be submitted via OCLC (symbol: GZO), ALA or IFLA forms, or fax. (The on-line forms above are NOT to be used by borrowing libraries). Wisconsin consortial non-OCLC libraries that are not already registered to use ILLiad should call 920-424-3348. The use of OCLC's IFM is preferred, but invoices will be sent at no extra charge. There is no extra charge for faxing of photocopies or sending PDFs via email.
