BadgerLink & Other Electronic Resources
BadgerLink provides free access to many databases for Wisconsin residents. It is a project of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI). A system of IP detection is used to determine if you can log-on. The IP address ranges of the majority of the state’s public libraries, public schools, and Internet Service Providers have been registered to provide access to their users. Available resources include many Ebsco databases, NewspaperArchive, HeritageQuest, & more.
At UW Oshkosh, our license agreements with vendors such as Ebsco, Lexis Nexis, and many others prevent us from offering off-campus access to our databases to non-UW Oshkosh faculty, staff and students. We do offer use of our databases in the library. BadgerLink is a great alternative for Wisconsin residents.
Visitors to the library can have access to our guest wireless through their own personal laptop, tablet or phone. You will need a NEW ERA Guest Card to check out books. Come to one of the UW Oshkosh Libraries Circulation Desk, fill out an application form and present a valid Wisconsin identification card, such as a drivers license. You will get the card immediately and be able to use it immediately. There is no charge for a a NEW ERA Guest Card.
